IMI Now the 20th Largest EMS Provider in the World

IMILaguna—(PHStocks)—Ayala-led Integrated Micro-Electronics Inc. (PSE: IMI), a leading worldwide provider of electronics manufacturing services (EMS) and power semiconductor assembly and test services (SATS), is now the 20th largest EMS provider in the world in terms of revenues based on the recently released list of Manufacturing Market Insider, a U.S.-based EMS trade publication. IMI’s ranking improved from 24th in the previous list.

The company earlier reported $661.8 million in consolidated sales revenues in 2012, up by 15% from $575.5 million in 2011, on acquisitions as well as business expansion of key customers. Its consolidated net income of US$5.4 million in 2012 represents a vast improvement from $3.3 million in 2011.

IMI will focus on seizing opportunities in global growth markets to ensure business expansion and profitability as it moves forward.

“Despite global uncertainties and challenges in major markets, we are undaunted that we will soar higher in 2013,” Arthur Tan, IMI president and chief executive officer, said. “We will look more aggressively for pockets of growth in every region, even as we continue to leverage our presence in China, whose economy is expected to continue growing at a fast rate of more than 8 percent in 2013. We will also capitalize on the trend of return to regionalization as original equipment manufacturers in North America and Europe aim to lower their total cost of production.”

IMI will continue to leverage on the trend of increasing electronic content in vehicles, the emerging applications of electronics in industrial and medical industries, the developments in LED lighting, and the rise of even more sophisticated connectivity devices.

Tan said, “We have grown from $79 million in revenues in 2002 to today’s almost $700 million…Our story continues, and we have good reason to keep the faith. We consistently deliver on our promises to expand both regionally and globally, to diversify our market base, as well as to further enhance our competencies. We will carry on in the years ahead.”

IMI has grown from a Philippines-based electronics manufacturer in 2002 to today’s global company with manufacturing and engineering facilities in Asia, North America, and Europe.
